Lenten eMeditation – February 25, 2005 #17
Our local TV station carried a story on Elwodd Reservoir last night. In part the reporter said, “One of Nebraska’s prized reservoirs will not be filed to its capacity, as the drought drags on in 2005” (www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7026418/). The pictures of the reservoir that
accompanied the story were grim. We are so dependent on water not only for farming, ranching, boating and fishing but for our very life. As the drought continues I must reflect on what it means for the way I live and the way I hope to live. I wonder how I can continue to live as if nothing is changing. My lawn will need watering, that half load of dishes in the dishwasher must be run and a quarter load of clothes to wash all as if I had an unending supply of water. All as the drought continues.
I’m praying today with the words of Ted Loder from his book, “Guerrillas of Grace” saying,
Eternal God, lead me now out of the familiar setting of my doubts and fears, beyond my pride and my need to be secure into a strange and graceful ease with my true proportions and with yours; that in boundless silence I may grow strong enough to endure and flexible enough to share your grace.
(Prayer from “Guerrillas of Grace” by Ted Loder)
”Remember the marvels the Lord has done.” (Ps 105:5a)
