Lenten eMeditation – March 18, 2005 #38

When I started my computer this morning I had no idea what I would write. Then I had a conversation with a friend who works for a Florida diocese. She told me she was receiving death threats from some of the people trying to save Terri Schiavo.

I am confounded why some people need to use death threats as a tactic to save another persons life. As a follower of Jesus, days away from Holy Week, I marvel at his ability not to threaten the people who did take his life but to forgive them. I pray for that type of courage, strength, faith or grace

So today I pray:

”Praised be God, The Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the father of mercies and the God of all consolation,
who comforts us in all our afflictions.”

”May God, the source of all patience and encouragement,
enable us to live in perfect harmony with one another
according to the spirit of Christ Jesus.”

”May the Lord make us overflow with love for one another and for all.
May God strengthen our hearts.”

”God of all our days:
like a parent you forgive us,
and like a child you love us.
May we love and forgive one another.”*

“In my distress I called upon the Lord, and he heard my voice.” (Ps 18: see 7)
