Lenten eMeditation - March 14, 2006 #14

It's late in the day and to be honest I'm tired. I sat for nearly 6 hours listening to four different panels talk about various aspects of education in Lincoln County. It was an informative day but I find sitting and listening for 6 hours extremely wearing.

As I sit here trying once again to focus on God's presence in my life I'm reminded of Michael Downey's reflection in his book, "Altogether Gift." He says,

"The Divine presence in the midst of human life, history, and all creation is recognized and celebrated in the sacramental life of the church, especially in the waters of baptism and a the table of the Eucharist. The Christian spiritual life consists of the movement from the font to baptism to the table of Eucharist to the cross of our own suffering, diminishment, dying, and death. Our destiny as a Christian people is to live human life in all its dimensions in the presence of the diving."

I pray to live my life in all its dimensions in the presence of the divine.

"To the upright I will show the saving power of God." (Ps 50:23b)
