Lenten eMeditation – March 31, 2006 #31

I’ve discovered an intriguing web site today called “pray-as-you-go.org.” The site is a project of the Jesuit Media Initiatives in Britain. In the What’s in it section of the site they say,

”Pray-as-you-go is a daily prayer session, designed for use on portable MP3 players, to help you pray whilst travelling to and from work, study, etc.

“Lasting around ten minutes (never more than 12 minutes), it uses music and scripture to help you become aware of God's presence in your life, to listen to and reflect on God's word, and to grow in your relationship with God.

”Although the content is different every day, it will always follow more or less the same format:

“1. Bells - the call to prayer
2. Opening music with a few words of introduction
3. Scripture for the day
4. Questions for personal reflection
5. Repeat of the scripture reading
6. Final reflection
7. Glory be”

I’m continually amazed by the number and kind of spiritual resources available on the internet. I appreciate whatever help I can find to become aware of God’s presence in my life. Now as I make my way across highway 26 my efforts to use my drive time as prayer time has a new resource. I see myself using these mp3s on my walks to focus my mind as I make my way around the high school.

You will find the web site at www.pray-as-you-go.org
