Our garden took a hit last night. Strong winds and heavy rain battered the tomato, pepper and bean plants. Earlier in the evening we were looking forward to a dinner of fresh green beans. Now we may have to wait a while longer. That first meal of fresh green beans with new potatoes and ham cubes or a slab of bacon cooked for 12 minutes in the pressure cooker is a summer tradition. The garden did overcome an early spring hailstorm and I believe it will overcome this event as well. I know that a green bean dinner is but days away.
I am grateful for the rain we received. I dind’t have to water the yard or the garden today as a result of last night’s rain. The forecast is calling for the possibility of rain again tonight. Let’s hope it is one of those gentle summer rains.
