Dignitaries from North Platte and around the State, County and City gathered today to celebrate the official groundbreaking for the Golden Spike Tower and Visitor Center. Both Mary G. Keith Richardson and Governor Dave Heineman address the crowed of about 200 people. This is a great day for North Platte and Lincoln County Governor Heineman said. The Golden Spike Tower and Visitor Center will be a great asset for North Platte. It has been a long time in coming but now the ground is broken and the project takes a giant step forward. Several current and past members of the North Platte City Council participated in the celebration.
