CAIRNS, Australia – Steve Irwin, the hugely popular Australian
television personality and conservationist known as the “Crocodile
Hunter,” was killed Monday by a stingray while filming off the Great
Barrier Reef. He was 44. Read the whole story here.

Joe would remind me that as Steve’s death is publicized around the world, thousands will die noticed only by their family. And of the multitude of tragic deaths that will occure today Steve’s is but one. Life is a marvelous gift for which I am grateful. I will pray for all those who died today, those I know and those I do not know and the famlies and loved ones who grieve their loss. Steve did bring a lot of joy and education into the lives of many people.

Information about Steve Irwin from the Animal Planet here. More information also on Discovery News.
