Day 45

in Campaign

There are now, 45 days until the election. Today candidates may start installing signs in North Platte. I will start putting up sings next week. I saw the first local campaign sing on West B street this morning. Campaigning begins in earnest.

I’m drafting my response to the North Platte Telegraph’s candidate survey. The Telegraph wants to know my stance on five questions. The questions are:

  • What are the top three priorities for the city in the next four years?
  • Do I support Tax Increment Financing for retail projects in North Platte? Why or why not?
  • Do I foresee the need to increase the city’s total property tax levy?
  • Do I support the Golden Spike project? Why or why not?
  • Should the city re-examine participating with the Nebraska Public Power District to cut costs in the city electric utility?

I’ll post my responses to these questions on my web site. I’m interested in hearing your thoughts on these questions. Leave a comment and tell me what you think.
