Partners in Prayer

prayer-partners-cardAbout once a month I receive a green postcard in the mail. The title of the card is “Partners in Prayer.” It says,

Thank you for the important work you do in serving us as citizens. It has been our joy on this day to pray for you and your family as you serve us through the challenging ministry of public service. We are encouraged by the words from the prophet Amos, “let justice roll down like waters and righteousness like an ever flowing stream. Amos5:2. This is our prayer for our nation, our state, and our community. As you serve may God guide and bless you.

Each card is sign by a different person. Some months the card is just signed. Other months the card contains a personal note from the person who sent it. I assume at least the other members of the City Council and County Commissioners receive a card as well.  I experience the card as a communication of gratitude and prayer for my public service efforts.

“Partners in Prayer” is a ministry of the “First Baptist Church of North Platte.” I’m intrigued by and grateful for their ministry. I know I’ve written about this before, but I continue to find this ministry to be a positive Christian witness acknowledging the power of prayer and grace in the world. Thank you!
